2010/2011 Strategic Plan
Basketball as we know in Bermuda is about to change. Our participants and enthusiasts across the island have told us we need to improve our basketball development system. This strategic plan articulates our vision and will drive basketball in Bermuda and Bermuda basketball into a new era.
Our Vision:
To place basketball as a dynamic sport amongst the top three team participation sports in Bermuda.
Our Mission:
To exercise a leadership role in the promotion and development of the sport of basketball in Bermuda through programs and services for all levels of athletes, participants, leaders, and volunteers.
The Basketball community has spoken boldly not only about the desire to make substantial improvements to our development system but also about the need for strong visionary leadership. We agree that NOW is the time for fundamental change to the basketball infrastructure in Bermuda. The opportunity is great! We believe that the systemic changes needed are substantial. Why? Our inability to provide young developing players the opportunity to receive age-appropriate and superior coaching and the fact that we do not have in place a comprehensive youth development program. The need to provide opportunities for female players to further develop their skills. Together we must rebuild the development system over the next four years. To succeed in reaching our Vision we must accept and embrace the need for change and the inevitability that difficult decisions and sacrifices must be made in the short term to achieve long term sustainable success. This Strategic plan will address the period from2010/2011 with a view where the organization needs to be in 2012.
